WUAG Presents

 Thank You (Thrill Jockey Records)

The Bronzed Chorus (Greensboro)

Thursday, August 28th

@ Square One  (1400 Glenwood Ave, Corner of Glenwood & Grove St)

Doors @ 8:30 pm    Show @ 9:00 pm

FREE SHOW

As a sort of welcome back to school show WUAG is trying to kick the semester off right with a super solid show. Thank You is a Baltimore based trio that has recently been signed to the prestigious Thrill Jockey record label for their new album "Terrible Two". The bands sound can be described as frenetic, dancey, proggy, and rocking. They can easily be compared to adventurous bands like Animal Collective and Tussle. Word on the street is that their live show is a sight to see and hear. The Bronzed Chorus is perhaps one of the tightest and rhythmically gifted bands in Greensboro. This duo's instrumental jams leave everyone bobbing their heads. Don't miss out!!

Jeff Bridges plays The Dude, a low-rent bowling enthusiast from L.A. who becomes entwined in a web of mystery and deceit after an adult film star urinates on his favorite rug.

WUAG Presents

Film Screening of "Brasil In Time"

Thursday, September 4th

@ The Weatherspoon Art Museum

on corner of Spring Garden & Tate Streets

7:00 pm

FREE TO ALL

In conjunction with the current Weatherspoon Art Museum exhibition " TRANSactions: Contemporary Latin American and Latino Art" the Museum and WUAG are teaming up for a special screening of the phenomenal, but rarely seen 2002 documentary "Brasil in Time." This film follows the adventures of DJ's and percussionist as they travel to Rio De Janiero for an historical concert. The concert is a collaboration between American DJ's Cut Chemist, Babu, J Rocc, and Madlib as they team up with not only American session drummers from the 1970's such as Paul Humphrey, but also with legendary Brazilian percussionists Joao Parahyba, Derf Reklaw, and others.  The concert is a testimony to the never-ending search for the perfect beat and the plethora of percussion, rhythm, and groove that exists.
